EOL support for your Cisco branded products
Electromechanical items always have a finite life expectancy for a variety of reasons. It could be in relation to current market demand, technology moving on with new and better products coming to market. It may simply be that with the passage of time, components fail and become more difficult to replace.
Taking all this into consideration, we have highlighted some of Cisco’s EOL policy so that anyone using these products can make informed decisions in terms of how to mitigate the problems. Here are the keys points of their policy.
Cisco’s EOL policy
OEMs like Cisco all operate their own EOL policies and solutions, including things like extended warranties and service/maintenance contracts. Cisco, for example, say that they will publish notification of a product’s impending EOS date and will advise the day when taking new orders will cease, six months in advance. These notifications can be found here on Cisco’s website.
They also commit to making sure that replacement components and spare parts will be available for purchase up to five years after the product’s EOL. Furthermore, they advise that you can access their technical assistance centre for advice and guidance over the same duration.
Cisco and other EOM EOL support can be expensive
The only problem with OEM EOL back-up is that it can be rather expensive. If on the other hand, you use the services of a third party like us here at Data-Shield, you can save up to 40% in terms of cost.
Cisco products are but one of the many leading brands that we support through and beyond EOL. For your convenience, we have summarised these products together with their milestone dates. Please feel free to check out our OEM’s supported products web page here. All you have to do is to click on an OEM’s logo and you will be taken through to the appropriate page showing a full list of that particular OEM’s products that we support.
Why choose a third party service provider over an EOL?
Most OEMs are primarily concerned about selling you their products. A natural progression of that is bringing new products to market and persuading customers to buy them and upgrade existing installations. It can mean that their priorities are not always directed at supporting legacy products, but are in getting you to upgrade.
Here at Data-Shield, our only concern is to offer support and protection to those who have legacy installations that are mission critical and that are approaching or have passed their EOL dates.
Whether you are running Cisco manufactured products or that of any other OEM, or even a combination of OEMs, we can help. LAN, SAN, WAN; whichever products or combination of products you are using, all are covered under our support portfolio. You will be offered a single point of contact for simplicity and continuity, and you can contact us via our technical support centre 24/7.
